EBAD’s microlatch and ejector release mechanism “ERM” is an effective way to support and release spacecraft deployables. From a 4-40 to 3/8”-24 thread size attaching screw can be preloaded into the coupler to generate 50 lbF (222 N) to 4000 lbF (17800 N) of preload. The microlatch & ERM are simple to use and easy to reset and offer key attributes, such as non-pyrotechnic, field reset-able and redundant firing circuits.
Description
NEA® (Non-Explosive Actuators) – As with all EBAD and EBAD TiNi™ products, the ERM is non-pyrotechnic and field reset-able with a minimum qualified life of 50 cycles. As with all EBAD products, the Micro Latch is non-pyrotechnic and field reset-able with a minimum qualified life of 100 cycles.
Field Reset-able and Reliable – The ERM can be reset within seconds while still attached to the structure via a simple tool provided by EBAD. The Micro Latch is reset by simply pushing the Coupler Nut back onto the body of the Actuator. The detent mechanism automatically engages with the Coupler Nut allowing immediate testing.
Fast Acting – All TiNi™ ERMs can be actuated with a standard pyro pulse of only 25 milliseconds or less. By directly passing a current through the SMA element, EBAD Micro Latch performs in millisecond time frame making them ideal for instantaneous release applications.
12Vdc Bus Voltage – The Micro Latch is designed to operate from a 12 Volt bus voltage as commonly available for Cube Sat deployments. The resistance can be readily changed to suit other voltages if needed.
Auto Shut-Off Switch – Simple Auto Shut Off Switches are incorporated into each ERM to protect the TiNi™ Trigger and also, in case of Micro Latch, to protect the Trigger. This makes them very “user friendly” and operable from a wide range of current and voltages.
